Before jumping straight to the different types of creative writing, let us learn what is creative writing.

The writing of stories in which the author constructs circumstances, scenarios, figures, and, frequently, even a place, is sometimes called creative writing. Creative writing is not aimed at education, but at entertainment. Its goal is to cause an emotional response through emotional stimulation.

You write essays, commercial materials, fiction, articles, letters or even just notes in your notebook. Although there are numerous reasons why you can place a pen on paper or tap on the computer, just four primary forms of writing actually exist: expository, descriptive, persuasive and narrative.

1. Expository writing

It is arguably the most prevalent type of writing you will encounter. A subject shall be introduced and described in a logical order without reference to the personal ideas of the author.

This type of writing can be found in the following:

2. Descriptive writing

The objective of descriptive writing is to assist the reader to envision a character, event, location, or all these things simultaneously. In terms of all five senses, the author could describe the situation. Writing descriptively gives the author far more artistic flexibility than other forms of writing.

  • Journal entry or diary entry

3. Persuasive writing

The objective of persuasive writings is to convince the reader to take up the views of the author. It expresses personal views and arms itself with proof so the reader is in agreement with it. The author expresses their viewpoint.

Persuasive writing can be found in the following:

  • Job applications

4. Narrative writing

The aim of the narrative is to tell a tale, whether it is true or imaginary. Pieces feature characters and the reader learns what happens to them through their story. Speech writing may also involve conversation dialogue.
